Partnering with Zimkids at School
Promotional events
At the school to raise awareness and fundraise e.g. Zimbabwean food tasting, a quiz etc.
Raise awareness
Talk about Zimbabwean culture in geography lessons; discuss issues of poverty in citizenship classes; create exciting artwork using African designs and materials; invite us to come and speak in an assembly; put up a display at the school about Zimkids; or ask us for some flyers to hand out to parents about what we do.
Creative sponsorship
Ask your school to sponsor YOU to do something wacky and wonderful for Zimkids. We’ve had many people do this for Zimkids already including… a head teacher sky-diving for Zimkids, raising £500; a local pastor ran the Great North Run and raised £700; someone else has organized 2 jazz concerts raising over £1200 for Zimkids; and a small business funded the production of a CD with all the profits (£1400) going to Zimkids.
One off projects
Ask the school to get involved in a specific project for Zimkids like sending goods out to Zimbabwe. In 2007 we sent to Zimbabwe 187 school bags, and in 2008 we sent over 300 wash kits. One school got a year group to make advent calendars to send out to the Zimkids. Perhaps your school has their own ideas of what they’d like to do for the children of Zimbabwe? Please also consider fundraising to send the items out as post is very expensive.
